  • Chaosamphraya National Museum

    Houses a number of antique bronze Buddha images as well as many gold treasures, including a fifteenth century crouching elephant. Open Wednesday to Sunday 09:00-16:00. Rotchana Road, Ayutthaya.

  • Democracy Monument

    Art deco monument erected 1932 to commererate Thailands change form absolute to constitutional monarchy, a favourite spot for public demonstrations. Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, Soi Din.

  • Erawan Museum

    Museum with a giant three headed elephant art display. Inside the building there are three floors of antiquities and ancient religious objects. Open every day from 08:00-18:00. Situated at 494 Ratchawithi Road, Pathumwan 10330.

  • Jim Thompson's House Museum

    Home of the founder of the Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company, the museum provides an opportunity to see a traditional Thai house and garden. Also a shop selling Jim Thompson silk and cafe. Open daily from 09:00-17:00. 6 Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Bangkok

  • Kamthieng House

    Traditional teak house built on wooden stilts, containing a collection of hand-woven materials, wood carvings, traditional musical instruments and sacred items. Open Tuesday to Saturday 09:00-17:00. 131 Soi Asoke, Sukhumvit 21 Road, Bangkok 10110.

  • King Prajadhipok Museum

    Exhibits a collection of the King's personal effects and provides information on royal activities. Open Tuesday to Sunday 09:00-16:00. King Prajadhipok's Institute, 47/101 Moo 4, Tiwanond Road, Talad Kwan Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi 11000.

  • King Rama I the Great Memorial

    Built in 1932 to commemorate the first king in the Royal House of Chakri and founder of Bangkok as the Capital of the Kingdom of Siam. Open daily at the foot of Pathom Boromrachanuson or Rama I Great Memorial Bridge on the Bangkok side.

  • King Rama III Memorial

    Built by the Fine Arts Department in 1990, the bronze statue, half larger than life size, is seated on a throne and surrounded by beautiful plants. Open daily near the Royal Reception Pavilion in front of Wat Ratchanatdaram on Ratchadamnoen Road.

  • Moks Bowl Village

    Handicaraft village that make traditional hadhcrafted steel rounded Monk's bowls used for receiving alms, demonstrations, walking distance from Khao San Road, open 10;00-20:00. Soi Ban Baht, Bamrung Meuang Road.

  • Monument to the Expeditionary Force

    Monument to the Thai Expeditionary Force that fought in the European battlefield during World War One. The ashes of dead veterans were enshrined here in 1919. Open daily in northern corner of Sanam Luang.

    Using a variety of interactive techniques, the exhibits encourage visitors to investigate, play games and discover the story of Thailand for themselves. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-18:00. Located close to the Grand Palace and Wat Po. Sanamchai Road.

  • National Museum

    A collection of antiques and royal gifts, dating from the Kingdom of Sukhothai to the Rattanakosin period. Also a section on art, archaeology, fine arts and ethnology. Open Wednesday to Sunday 09:00-16:00. Na Phrathat Road, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok.

  • National Museum of Royal Barges

    Museum housing ornamental barges used for processions, view the King's personal barge - Suphannahong, easy access from tourist boat from Phra Athit or walking distance from Bangkok Noi train station. Open 09:00-17:00. Khlong Bangkok Noi, Thonburi.

  • National Science Museum

    Involves individuals in the excitement of science and technology using interactive exhibits and everyday examples. Tuesday to Thursday 09:30-16:30. Friday to Sunday 09:30-17:00. Technoplis, Klong 5, Klong Luang, Pathumthani 12120.

  • Queen Savang Vadhana Museum

    Museum in a former residence of Queen Savang Vadhana. Reservation in advance required. Open Friday and Saturdays 10:00-16:00. Museum entrance is near Siam Paragon, Siam BTS. Srapathum Palace, 195 Phayathai Road, Bangkok 10330.

  • Rattanakosin Museum

    Interactive museum with multimedia displays and touch screens displaying the history of Rattanakosin island and old Bangkok. Open Tuesday to Friday 11:00-20:00 and Sundays 10:00-20:00. 100 Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, Bangkok.

  • Sao Ching-Cha

    The Giant Swing, formerly used during Brahman festivals to honour the Hindu God Shiva. Participants would swing in arcs to reach a bag of gold. Many died trying and the ritual was stopped in the 1930s. On Ti Thong Road in Banglamphu.

  • Science Museum and Planetarium

    The museum includes a planetarium, science and technology exhibitions as well as sports science exhibitions. Open Tuesday to Sunday 08:30-16:30. 928 Sukhumvit Road, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110.

  • Snake Farm

    Official name : Queen Saovabha Memorial Institue, common cobra, king cobra, pit viper's used to prepeare anti venin, milking anfd feeding shows, open 08:30-14:30 / 12:00 on weekends. Corner of Rama IV and Henry Dunant Roads.

  • Suan Pakkad Palace

    Collection of seven traditional Thai homes and a former royal weekend resort. Exhibits include musical instruments, Khon masks and costumes, cermanics and personal items. Open daily 09:00-16:00. Near Phaya Thai BTS station on Si Ayutthaya Road.

  • The City Pillar Shrine

    Erected by King Rama I in 1782, the original pillar was made of cassia wood, but was replaced when dilapidated by King Rama IV. It houses the city's horoscope and images of protective deities. Open daily near the Emerald Buddha Temple.

  • The Gem & Jewellery Museum

  • The Grand Palace

    The major architectural symbol of the Thai Royal Family, and now used only for ceremonial purposes. Personal audio guides are available for rent. Open daily from 08:30-15:30 on Maharat Road near the Chang Wang Luang Pier.

  • The National Art Gallery

  • The Philatelic Museum

    The history of the postal service in Thailand and the world. All Thai stamps and first day covers, plus international stamps. Open Tuesday to Saturday 09:00-16:00. Near Saphan Khwai BTS station.

  • The Princess Mother Memorial Park

    Commemorating the life of Princess Srinakarin who died in 1995, with gardens and a museum located where she grew up. Gardens open daily 06:00-18:00 and museum open daily 09:00-16:00. Soi 3, Somdet Chao Phraya Road, Khlong San.

  • Vimanmek Mansion Museum

    Golden teak royal mansion with 81 rooms, halls and ante-chambers containing fin de siecle royal memorabilia. Open daily 09:30-16:30. Thai dancing shows daily at 10:30 and 14:00. Located in the Dusit Palace compound on Ratchawithi Road.

  • Wat Arun

    The temple of dawn, with its porcelain encrusted Khmer-style central pagoda, is one of Bangkok's most famous landmarks, best photographed at sunset. Open daily 07:30-17:30 at 34 Arun Amarin Road, Kwang Wat Arun, Khet Bangkok Yai, Bangkok.

  • Wat Benchamabophit

    The marble temple completed during the reign of King Rama V. The interior cross beams are decorated in lacquer and gold, and the walls of the courtyard lined with bronze Buddha images. Open daily 06:00-18:00 on Rama V Road, Banglamphu.

  • Wat Bowon Niwet

    One of Bangkok's most important temples, built in 1829 and the shrine of Phra Phuttachinnasi, a beautiful Buddha image molded in 1357. Open daily 08:00-17:00 on Phra Sumen Road in Banglamphu.

  • Wat Intharawihan

    Thirty two metre tall Buddha image called Luang Po To, constructed between 1867 and 1927. Open daily 08:30-20:00. Th Wisut Kasat, in Banglamphu.

  • Wat Mahathat

    Founded in the 1700s and now a national centre for the Mahanikai monastic sect and home to one of Bangkok's two Buddhist universities. Open daily 07:00-17:00. Located on Na Phrathet Road near Thammasat University.

  • Wat Pho

    Founded in the 16th century, this is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok, most famous for its golden reclining Buddha, which measures 46 metres. Also a meditation centre with Thai massage. Open daily 08:30-18:00 on Maharat Road, Ratanakosin.

  • Wat Phra Kaew

    The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which adjoins the Grand Palace on common ground consecrated in 1782. The Emerald Buddha is actually carved out of of a type of jade, and placed on a pedestal high above worshippers. Open daily 08:30-15:30.

  • Wat Ratchabophit

    Built by King Rama V in 1869, this temple is a mixture of local and western styles, with the exterior of the chapel being Thai in style and the interior European. Open daily 08:00-17:00 on Fuang Nakhon Road near Wat Pho.

  • Wat Ratchanatdaram

    Built in the reign of King Rama III in 1846, the temple's highlight is the Loha Prasat, a palace-like religious shrine and the only one of its kind in the world. Open daily 08:00-17:00 on Mahachai Road in Banglamphu.

  • Wat Sa Ket and The Golden Mount

    Constructed during the reign of King Rama I, this temple houses a Buddha relic from India and is built on an artificial hill with panoramic views of Rattanakosin Island. Open daily 07:30-17:30 at Ratchadamnoen Klang and Boripihat Road.

  • Wat Trai Mitt
