A Place Called Home

Just about everyone living as an expatriate has, at some point, had to cope with finding a new, temporary place to stay in an unfamiliar country and a foreign language. This may be the result of sudden company relocation or as a stop-gap while looking for that "forever home" in a long dreamed-of destination... whatever the reason, it's almost never easy!

studio, flat, apartment, house, villa, mansion...

AngloINFO is here to help. Before you set off in search of the perfect rental accommodation have a look at the INFOrmation Page on Renting a House or Apartment. Here you can get guidance on where to begin your search, what to expect from a lease agreement as well as details on connecting utilities and terminating the contract.

Once you understand the system, then you need to find the property! In the Condos, Apartments & Houses For Rent category of The AngloFILE directory of local businesses, you'll find English-speaking property agents specialising in rental accommodation.

You can also browse through the Property For Rent section of the Forum Classifieds to see if anything suitable is available, and you can post a message in the Accommodation Wanted Forum outlining your requirements; other local anglophones may have - or know of - something that will suit you.

Finally, to help you understand the abbreviations used on rental ads and notices, you can have a look at the page on Property Jargon Guide.
