Citizens Guides for Foreign Visitors & Residents in Thailand

UK and US consulates provide services for citizens in need, including replacement of lost or stolen passports and help and advice in difficult situations.

Most countries have an Embassy or Consular Offices to deal with matters affecting their own nationals living in or visiting the country.

Citizens of the USA, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia living in Thailand are particularly well catered to by the consular sections of their Embassies and other organisations. UK Citizens

The British Embassy recommends that all citizens staying in Thailand for more than three months register with the Embassy.

The British Embassy and Consular Offices provide services to British citizens in Thailand. Services include:

  • Issuing replacement passports
  • Providing help to those who have been victim of a crime
  • Providing notarial services and letters that may be required by the Thai authorities
  • Consular birth and death registrations
  • Information on transferring funds
  • Providing details of local lawyers, doctors, translators and funeral directors

The website has information on marriage and death in Thailand. It also has a list of lawyers. The British Embassy publishes information for British nationals abroad: a checklist for travellers, guides on travelling safely, information for victims of crime, on death overseas and missing persons abroad.

All visa applications should be submitted at the UK Visa Application Centre.
